1. Use your keyboard to open the Run dialogue box by pressing the Windows key and R key. (But if you are lazy with your keyboard, you can always use the Windows search bar. Just type in Run hit Enter and open the app from the results.)
2. Type in devmgmt.msc in the space provided and choose the OK option or hit Enter.
3. When the device manager opens, expand the Sound, video and game controllers option.
4. Look for anything connected to C-Media USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0 DAC Device Driver.
5. Right-click there and a small menu will appear, choose the Uninstall device option.
6. The computer screen will now ask you for your confirmation. Tick the box against the Delete the driver software for this device option and then go for the OK option.

10. When the Advanced Boot Options appears, check the Safe Mode with Networking option and then proceed to hit Enter.

11. Use the combination, Windows Key + R key on your keyboard in order to open the Run dialogue box.
12. Type in devmgmt.msc in the space provided and then press Enter.
13. The Device Manager will now open. You need to expand the Display adapters section. Just double-click on it or tap the small arrow to its left to achieve this.
14. Right-click on the graphics card that is already installed.
15. Choose the Uninstall option from the menu to uninstall it.
16. When the prompt pops up, choose the  Delete the driver software for this device option. Proceed by clicking OK.

18. Restart your computer.
19. Now that we have uninstalled the drivers, we just need to reinstall them or better update them. To do that, go to the graphics card’s official website.
20. Use the card’s model and be sure to download a driver that is compatible with your operating system and its operating type.
21. To know the exact version of your OS and to know your PC’s system type, open the Run dialogue box. Then type in msinfo32 and then hit Enter.

Once you have downloaded a suitable file, install it by following the on-screen instructions that the file provides. Restarting your OS won’t send you a system thread exception not handled error.

Solution 4: Renaming your Faulty Driver

If you ever see a file name such as atikmdag.sys or nvlddmkm.sys right next to the error message then it will save you a world of trouble like thread exception not handled. There is a chance that renaming the driver will get the error fixed. So you should definitely attempt it.

1. Open the command prompt.
2. Type in the command given as follows and hit Enter – c:
3. Next, do the same with this command as well – dir
4. If you get to a folder named Windows with the dir command then you are on the right track. If not try the command d: and hit Enter.
5. Again do the above with the following command – cd windows\system32\drivers
6. The command in line is – ren driver name.sys driver name.old (Here, the driver name is the name shown earlier with the error such as aitkmdag.sys)
7. Restart your computer.
8. If the deleted driver is not installed, then you have to do it manually.
9. For that, go right ahead and use the Windows key + R key combination to open the Run dialogue box.
10. Then type in devmgmt.msc and then press Enter.
11. A yellow exclamation mark will help you locate the driver that you just uninstalled. Right-click on it and then choose the Update Driver option.
12. Now, click on Search automatically for drivers option.

Now you can leave your system alone as it does the rest of the process by itself.

Solution 5: Resetting your PC/laptop

Though this method should only be used as a last resort, it is sure a neat way to fix system thread exception not handled error. Not only that it serves as a good fix for a variety of BSOD issues.

1.  Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar.
2.  Open Setting by clicking on its icon.
3.  Click on the Update & Security option among many.
4.  Choose the Recovery tab from the left pane.
5.  Now you will have three doors in front of you.

• Reset this PC.
• Go back to an earlier build.
• Advanced startup.

The first option will get you a fresh start and that is what you need to choose. Just for your knowledge, know that the second one will get you to an older version while the third will let you boot off a recovery USB drive or disc.

1. Choose the Get Started option under the Reset this PC section.
2. Choose the Keep my files option or Remove everything option based on what you want. The first one will keep your data while the second will delete it as a whole.
3. If you choose the second, then you will again be asked to choose between Just remove my files and Remove files and clean the drive. Decide accordingly.
4. Click on Next and then finally choose Reset to initiate the process. Hit the Continue option when needed.
