  • There will be some space provided in the dialogue box. Type in cmd right there.
  • Hitting the Enter key or choosing the OK option is not enough as we need to open the command prompt as an administrator. So go for the combination Ctrl + Shift + Enter instead.
  • Now, you will get to do something with a little hacker touch. Type in the command below in the black screen of the command prompt. And then hit Enter.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Running DISM

With the Windows Installation media

  • First of all, install the Windows installation media.
  • Yet again, open the Run dialogue box with the combo Windows key + R key or by using the Windows search bar.
  • Type in cmd in the space provided and use the combination Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run it as an administrator just like before.
  • Type in the command below in the Command Prompt and hit Enter.

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

  • Apply the same method for this command as well.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • You have to repeat the drill with this command too.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:SourcesInstall.wim:1 /LimitAccess
